The education system of America has been criticizes for being racist. Famous black personality Dr. Carter G. Woodson said that the differences in the race shouldn’t be the reason that is making the differences in living circumstances. Today the black people are no longer supported by the caring communities that were used to segregate the black community. There is no sure factor in the education of the black race that was once assured by the community elders and black teachers.
Western education is being provided to the black race in tandem with the whites. There are officially no differences between the blacks and the whites in the educations system. The problem comes in the access of the education system to the black races. Many efforts have been made in the provision of education to all the classes. But it is usually the blacks which are left behind. During the beginning of the 19th century there was widespread interest in the education of the blacks. But later this changed in the backward classes of blacks. This change is attributed to the few blacks who popularized the hip hop criminal view. This was popularized in Hollywood movies and music videos. The general consensus spread among the blacks that it is cool to be bad. This let the word die attitude is still persistent among the blacks. The ratio of the blacks is lower than expected in higher studies and colleges because of this general attitude. The recent trend of blacks in sports like basketball and NFL has also been responsible for low ratio. More black people join school football teams with the wish to make it to the big leagues. When they fail to make it, they drop out. This has to change if the education system for the blacks has any chance of improving.
